Hotel Central Park

The room itself was okay, but the TV didn't work and the hot water only stayed hot briefly before turning warm. On our first day, we couldn't get warm water at all, just cold water. Later, when we went to refill bottles at the pantry, we were told to use tap water, so we weren't sure where the water they initially gave us came from. They also refused our request for more water during dinner, and there was no bottled water in the room. We were ushered out of the restaurant by the staff turning off the lights. Where I'm from, they would tell guests first. We had to carry our luggage up a flight of stairs on arrival, with no ramp, which would be difficult for older guests or anyone with mobility needs. The service, facilities, and manners were the worst I've encountered. This was only my first day, and I was hoping the next would be better.

The night ended with us leaving Central Park Hotel Trebinje around 1:30 AM and walking with our suitcases to another hotel arranged by our tour operator. The hotel offered no help. It was an awful, distressing experience, and I hope nobody else has a night like that. Earlier, my cousin in a neighboring room called to say she had woken up itching and found bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) all over the bed and walls. As the group leader, I reported it at reception. The night staff spoke only their own language, so communicating took translation apps. At first I was told, “The hotel is full. There is nothing we can do.” I insisted someone inspect the room with me, and a staff member came along. The infestation was as bad as my cousin had said. There was no spare room, so she brought her belongings into mine while I called the tour company from the front desk. Then she called to say my room had bugs too. I found them on the bed and armchair. They weren't as widespread as in her room, but we left immediately and went to reception together. The hotel is advertised as one of the better places in the area, but our experience doesn't support that. There was a musty smell throughout, apparently from the carpets and furniture, and some curtains were torn. Along with the bed bugs, it all suggested poor upkeep and hygiene. Calling it acceptable or high standard doesn't seem accurate, especially for a hotel welcoming international visitors, including guests from Germany and other EU countries. I hope they arrange a full inspection by a professional pest control company and make serious improvements to cleanliness and customer care. I'm sharing this to warn other travelers and hope the hotel takes it seriously.

Breakfast was good and the location worked well, but sleeping was hard because the room had no reliable AC or electricity. The building's AC wasn't working, and the power kept tripping at random. I was on a tour and asked for another room with AC. They said the hotel was full, but later I saw two other travelers get upgraded. I can confirm what others have said about preferential treatment.

The rooms are small, and they don't provide water or basic toiletries. What bothered me most was the unequal service: reception offered water and fruit to some guests, but told others they had to pay. The staff service was terrible. The location itself is handy, near lots of shops and restaurants.
