Colony Club, a Luxury Collection Resort, Barbados

If you’re after somewhere peaceful, this is definitely the place. The beach is amazing, the pools feel luxurious and stay at a perfect temperature, and the employees were friendly and helpful. Just don’t expect much nightlife. At 9pm we were at the main pool bar with live music, and there was only one other couple there. It was very relaxing, but quieter than we would have liked.

The beach was our favorite spot. We’d also spent time at Rockley and Mullins, and thought this was the best of them. With beach shoes, you can walk nearly three miles there and back along the shore. The reef is close by, and heading left to the marine park for snorkeling brought us plenty of great fish. We loved the gardens too, with hummingbirds and parakeets. The hotel is well located for walking to shops and local restaurants, and buses outside go to Speightsown and Oistins. Just flag one down, and each ride costs $3.50. We especially liked Speightsown. The refurbishment made everything feel very new. Breakfast had lots of choice, and the lunch options were nice. Staff offered water throughout the day, along with little snacks, and the loungers were comfortable. They were polite and helpful. There’s free motorized and non-motorized beach sports, daily activities, and live music. Happy hour runs from 5-6pm, with two-for-one cocktails and beer, though it wasn’t advertised very clearly. I wish the leaflet listed the free beach activities and happy hour. No negatives come to mind, we loved the stay and would return. We also booked some great trips through Tripadviser, including swimming with turtles, an island tour, and electric bikes.

The staff were the best part of our stay. Heather, Linda Monica Nicole Bryan Wendell Michael Kianna Mathew Jamal Carole all looked after us so well and gave excellent service. The hotel itself is gorgeous, completely renovated by Marriott and truly luxurious. Head chef Wayne made incredible food, every dish was excellent. The beach is beautiful, though a bit rocky. Restaurant meals are expensive, but lunch costs are more reasonable than dinner, and the food is excellent. It was an incredible experience and I can’t wait to return.

A lovely place to slow down and enjoy Barbados. Colony Club sits right by the sea, with a beautiful, calm ocean just steps away. The setting is scenic and convenient for enjoying the island, and the service felt both professional and genuinely warm. The staff made us feel welcome and well cared for from arrival. Comfortable, relaxing, and an easy five stars for me. Highly recommended.
