Tamarind, Barbados, An Autograph Collection® All-Inclusive Resort

The kids were happiest in the pools, and the parents made good use of the poolside bars. I loved slipping off to the beach next door. We were 16 people, from age 2 to 80, on a weeklong family reunion and big birthday trip at the Tamarind, and everyone had a blast. The free watersports were a hit, the food was excellent, and the suites had breathtaking ocean views. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and handled all kinds of needs like pros. Huge thanks to them for making our trip such a success. I hope to visit again and highly recommend the Tamarind.

Taxis are really expensive, and so is everything else. Duty-free gifts bring the prices down to UK levels, though. We found the water taxi to the other three hotels in the group handy when we wanted a change of scenery. The location is right on the beach, with decent food. Staff were really friendly and attentive. It was quiet while we were there, then started filling with families and noisy young kids as Easter came closer. Lovely place, recommended.

The robe was lovely, and everyone on staff I met was top notch and clearly wanted guests to have a great time. The woman at dinner was especially kind. She helped me pick something, then went the extra mile and brought it up after calling to say it was ready for pickup, even though I took my sweet time going down. I also appreciated the umbrella when it poured. Still, I didn’t feel I got value for the price. It’s expensive, and a $20 room service charge at an all-inclusive is confusing. I didn’t feel treated like a Marriott Gold member either. There was just a piece of paper in the room. I didn’t really like the place.

The ocean-view junior suite was roomy and comfortable, with a nice balcony and a large bed, though it was high to climb into. The bathroom was good, with a great rainfall shower and nice toiletries. Staff were great and brought extra towels when we asked for our couple time. It’s a romantic spot. Food was good, with lots of buffet and à la carte options, though I would’ve liked more local Bajan dishes. Cocktails were great, and the pools and loungers were welcoming. Nice location, great beach, and good value. It’s not a flashy five-star place, but it’s fine for the money. Pay three times as much if you want flash.
