Coral Sands And Carib Edge

Speightstown is a lovely little town, with supermarkets, restaurants, and bars close enough to walk to. The beach opposite the apartments is nice, but go five minutes to the right and Heywoods beach is wonderfully sandy. If you follow the beach as far as you can and swim around the rocks at the end, you might spot turtles. We saw them several times. There’s so much nearby and the buses are cheap and frequent, with the bus station about a five-minute walk away, so you don’t need a car. The owners also rent out their jeep at a reasonable price, which we found a great way to see more of the island. We had a long stay, first for a month in the ground and first floor apartment Coral Sands, then for two months in the second floor penthouse Carib Edge, both with the same owner. Both places were amazing, and I can’t say enough good things about our time there. Coral Sands is spacious and comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen, good internet, cable TV, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, and a fridge freezer with an ice machine. There’s a mosquito net over the bed if you want it, aircon in the bedrooms, fans throughout, a toilet on the ground floor, and a shower bathroom on the first floor. You can access the beach from the front, and there’s a lovely large covered balcony on the first floor. The sofa bed in the lounge means it can sleep 4-6 people. Carib Edge has high vaulted ceilings and plenty of space, with a fantastically comfortable bed and sofa. It also has a well equipped kitchen, good internet in the living area, cable TV, dishwasher, washer and dryer, an ice machine in the fridge freezer, optional mosquito net, and aircon and fans throughout. The huge balcony is partly covered, with lovely sunset views and an electric BBQ. It sleeps two. Both properties have what you need for a short or long stay and are well cared for by the on site caretaker, Sonia. The owners stay there when they can, which helps keep the apartments to a high standard. As happens on a long stay, a few things came up: the dishwasher wasn’t working properly, and then an unexpected volcano eruption on St Vincent covered everything with ash. Whatever happened, the owners and Sonia were always there to help and handled things as quickly as possible. We felt very well looked after.

This place is a gem, just a minute from the beach with a huge balcony and electric BBQ. It’s in the White Sands building and has parking in a gated area, plus weekly cleaning of both the building and apartment. The place came with everything we needed, including a kettle, toaster, TV, reliable internet, screened windows, and a huge bed with a mosquito net so we could sleep to the sound of the waves. We booked directly with the owner, so there were no extra booking fees. Great for a short or long stay: we came for a month and stayed for two.

The Penthouse balcony has magical views, and the beach right in front is lovely, with sea turtles. The apartment is spacious and had everything I needed. It’s the most gorgeous place I’ve ever stayed, and I’d love to come back.
