Het Eycken Huys Bed & Breakfast

We came last Easter with our toddler, and found the place beautiful, set amid nature. The staff were lovely and helpful, and breakfast was very nice. It’s easy to drive out to other Belgian cities from here. Totally recommended.

There’s lots for kids to do, including a large pool, trampoline, soccer, badminton, and more. The farm is beautiful, with lovely outdoor areas and a bar. Great breakfast, nice people, and handy for Gent, Bruges, and Antwerp.

I found the hotel clean, attractive, and well furnished, but the owner’s manner made the stay unpleasant. On a business trip to a nearby customer, I arrived in the late afternoon and was shown my room and told about breakfast. Since no supper option was offered, I bought food at a nearby supermarket and planned to make sandwiches for the next day at the customer’s site. There was an empty fridge in the room, so I put the food there. When I asked for a plate and cutlery, the landlord angrily said I was rude to bring my own food and not eat in, and complained he would have to clean dishes for me. I left everything clean in the room. I prepared and ate in my room, not in his restaurant. Things went downhill after that, and the early breakfast I had paid for wasn’t ready in the morning, despite his saying the day before that it would be. He remained rude and unwelcoming throughout my two-night stay. The hotel is nice, but the owner should work on how he treats guests. Until then, I’d stay away.

The friendly dog was a nice surprise when we arrived, and I only wished we could have stayed longer. Our host was excellent, and the rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. It’s well placed for bruge and ghent. Breakfast was filling and very good, with traditional meat and cheese, bread, yogurt, eggs, coffee, and juice, more than we could eat.
