Lomolen B&B

With our family, this was the worst B&B we’ve ever stayed at. The welcome was appalling and disrespectful, and came close to racism. The manager even acted aggressively toward my pregnant wife.

The setting is beautiful, but this B&B needs some work. All six of us felt we couldn’t really be satisfied with our stay. We often visit B&Bs around Belgium, and found the hospitality could be better. The hostess said herself that she has too much on her plate to run the business properly, and we all felt the owners didn’t have enough time to look after it well. Our rooms were spacious and the beds were solid. The first morning’s breakfast disappointed us, with stale bread and industrial sandwiches, though it was really fine on the next two mornings. We were there as three couples around August 15th, during a warm spell, but couldn’t eat breakfast outdoors. The table was set inside. There were six chairs and a table on the terrace, but no parasol. You also have to pay separately to use glasses and kitchen utensils if you bring your own drinks, at 5 to 7.5 euros per person per day. Digital payment isn’t available, and the bicycle shed couldn’t be locked, which is a shame with expensive electric bikes.

The location is peaceful, between Ghent, Bruges, Kortrijk, and the coast, and works well for cyclists, walkers, families, friends, or colleagues. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious, well kept, and have high-quality beds. Guests get free Wi-Fi and parking. The welcome is always warm. You can get local beer and good wine, and there’s a breakfast buffet for an extra charge. Gluten-free food is available if requested.

The room was spacious, clean, and tidy, and breakfast was delicious. We were offered a welcome drink and had a lovely chat when we arrived. Really hospitable, highly recommended! 🙏
