'S Hertogenmolens

The setting made the evening feel special: we sat indoors looking out over the river, and the side windows showed the old watermill. The service was warm and relaxed, and they brought more bread without us asking or charging extra. We ate at the brasserie of 's Hertogenmolens in Aarschot through our Bongo Bon. The three-course menu had meat or vegetarian choices for both the starter and main. Portions were just right, and the food was flavorful and well seasoned without being too strong. A lovely dinner.

We paid €89.50 for a one-night stay with breakfast, a three-course dinner and a small welcome drink. The location is amazing, and the rooms are comfortable, though the water flowing beneath the building makes them a little noisy. The people were kind and service was good. At dinner, though, our main course took over an hour to arrive, and the staff didn't know what “vegetarian” meant.

The breakfast was great, with plenty to choose from, including special options for allergies and different diets. Our room was spacious and beautiful, with air-conditioning and a great bathroom. Opening the windows to the nearby stream was calming.

I've stayed here twice now. The hotel is in a historic building in old Aarschot, relatively close to Bruxelles, and the walk into town takes you past a huge old church. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated, and breakfast is super. Next door, the restaurant and brasserie serve a perfect dinner in the historic mill setting. I can only recommend this nice hotel.
