Boomerang Hostel Antwerp

I stayed here for a few months in 2012. Guy and the Japanese lady made me feel very welcome. It’s a great hostel near the trams 🚊 into the city centre 👌, and there’s a laundry facility basically next door. Highly recommended.

If you need a quiet night, friendly staff, and basic clean facilities, stay away. People partied in the hostel all night, and the staff were incompetent, unprofessional, and no help. The beds definitely weren’t clean, and they were being switched between guests during the day. With people trading sleeping spots for extra cash and no security at the entrance, I didn’t feel safe at night. The worst hostel experience I’ve had. Do yourself a favor and keep looking.

The beds were comfortable, and the toilets and showers were clean. The staff member was friendly, though she wasn’t around. There’s a huge, cozy lounge that looks really comfortable, but it was right next to the reception desk. I didn’t get to use the garden or the other social areas.

There were no locks on the room doors, and nobody told me the bedsheets had to be paid for separately. The staff member showed me a bed and said he’d leave the sheets on it later. When I came back, someone else was in that bed, so I had to use another one without sheets, even though I’d paid for them. The rooms were disorganized and smelled terrible, and the bathrooms were far too dirty. The shower I used was broken.
