Maek Hotel Antwerp Central

The staff were polite, but as Gold members we expected a warmer welcome. What we got felt completely standard. The hotel itself is modern enough and in a good location, but the rooms have poor soundproofing. You can hear everything the neighbors are doing, which isn't pleasant.

The gym was decent, and the hotel is centrally located. The renovated common areas look nice. But it wasn't worth 150 a night, and I'll stay at NH next time. We paid extra for a park view, but every room faces the road, and the old, very thin windows let in a lot of traffic noise. The soundproofing between rooms also wasn't as advertised. We could hear plenty from above, below, and next door. In the evening, our bathroom strongly smelled of weed and cigarette smoke from someone smoking in their bathroom. The front desk said they'd try to investigate, but that it happened regularly and they couldn't identify which rooms were involved. If it's a recurring problem, they need to find a solution.

My parents and I just got back from a New Year's Eve trip to Antwerp, and MAEK Hotel made it a brilliant stay. It's close to Antwerp Central Station, the rooms are modern and comfortable, and the relaxed, stylish feel made us feel at home. Breakfast was 10/10. A special mention for Eecol at reception. He was friendly, informative, funny, and went out of his way to share recommendations and local tips, with plenty of banter. My only complaint is that he's a Max Verstappen fan, but I suppose nobody's perfect. We'd definitely come back.

The hotel is a short walk from the main railway station, and the city of Antwerpen is nearby. Staff were friendly throughout our stay, and breakfast had a decent selection. There was some noise from construction work around the hotel.
