The food wasn’t served together, and none of the meat was cooked as requested. We’d ordered one entrecôte and two fillets, all well done. The entrecôte came rare, one fillet well done, and the other medium rare. When we asked for the entrecôte to be cooked more, the manager, who was also serving us, complained that it would turn “like chewing gum” and spoke in an inappropriate tone. We then asked for the fillet to be cooked again, and he got more irritated and raised his voice. After a second attempt, the entrecôte was still only medium rare. When we calmly asked why he was shouting, he shouted again and made racist remarks. That is completely unacceptable and seriously damages the image and values usually associated with the Michelin Guide. We’d been looking forward to visiting U Eat & Sleep in Antwerp, but the cold, unfriendly welcome from the start and the manager’s behavior made this a major disappointment in both service and basic respect for customers.

The meat is supposed to be well done, lol! We had a misunderstanding about how it was cooked, which can happen anywhere, but the manager/waiter was rude and dismissive instead of listening, calmly explaining or trying to sort it out. That lack of communication and respect ruined the whole experience, whatever the food itself was like. I wouldn’t recommend the place based on how customers are treated when something goes wrong.

The manager shouted openly at customers and was rude and aggressive. I’ve never been treated that way in any establishment. There was no professionalism or respect at all. You get more dignity in a shack. Completely disgraceful, avoid at all costs.

The drinks were good, and the service was friendly apart from this: the waiter started a phone call while taking our order. Then, after we got the first round of drinks, nobody came to our table for roughly an hour.

We had such an enjoyable evening here. The food was tasty and exquisite, the staff very friendly, and the music pleasantly quiet. Huge windows look out over the MAS museum and the marine harbour. A lovely choice for a romantic evening, and I recommend it! ✨
