Smartflats Diamant

This was a dirty, unsafe-feeling place, and after I tried contacting the property for help, they never replied. I'm writing now so others don't get caught in the same situation. The front door lock had been poorly fixed before, and the door wouldn't close properly. Nothing seemed clean. The floor was sticky throughout, the shower was dirty and stuck at 38 degrees Celsius, which I understood could pose a legionnaires' risk. Dust was thick everywhere, a nightmare for anyone with asthma, and the sheets didn't smell clean. There were black marks and scratches on the walls, a broken bed, and dirty, broken chairs. Staff had left dirty laundry in the apartment. The microwave and kettle were broken. Turning on the kettle switched off the lights in half the apartment. Half the lamps also didn't work. Phone support promised to send someone to fix them, but nobody came.

There was no warm water, and the electricity failed in half the apartment, so our food spoiled in the fridge and we had no cold drinks in the heat. The air conditioning stopped too, leaving us in what felt like a sauna. The sheets were stained and the beds partly broken, while the floors and walls were so dirty that we worried about health hazards. We asked for the electricity to be fixed for three days running. They promised a solution but never provided one. There's no staff on site, and online support is barely reachable; when they do answer, they don't seem qualified. We tried to request a refund, but even the email address they gave us didn't work. The communal areas were dirty and smelly, the elevator was broken half the time, our lock didn't work, and the main entrance was always open, which made us feel unsafe. This place is a scam. For your own sake, never come here.

There was plenty of room for our family of three, with a fridge, microwave and oven, and it was surprisingly quiet even with bars and restaurants right downstairs. The location was great, close to the station, main shopping area and opera house, and we really enjoyed our stay. A few things didn't match the listing: the terrace had no furniture, though it appeared in the pictures, and the pictured couch wasn't in the apartment. The hallway and staircase smelled really bad, and some kitchen essentials were missing. Still, it worked well for our three-day family vacation.

The location is good, very close to Antwerp central station, but the area gets quite loud at night. I still wouldn't recommend this apartment. The owner showed little care or attention when problems came up. The room was filthy, with a sticky floor that smelled bad and an old dirty sock hanging in the bathroom, apparently left by a previous guest. There was no hot water because the boiler was broken, and the heating wasn't working either. We spent our first night trying to fix it ourselves while the owner did nothing beyond sending an unhelpful video. It showed a different boiler brand and wasn't even about fixing the problem. The window was broken too. The elevator stopped mid-ride, and had cracked tiles and a dirty floor. The promised Wi-Fi never worked.
