I stayed at Smartflats Central Antwerp in July 2025, and it was the worst accommodation experience I’ve had. We were moved to a lower-quality apartment than the one we booked, and Smartflats was dismissive and unhelpful throughout. They even offered 15% off a future visit. There was no Wi-Fi for the whole stay, despite it being advertised, and I missed an important work meeting. During a heatwave of 32-38°C there were no fans or ventilation, and one bedroom had a rotted window that wouldn’t open. They’d promised fans in writing but never delivered them. The bathroom was mouldy and smelled awful, and the TV didn’t work despite being listed as an amenity. Broken luggage chutes meant we had to carry suitcases up narrow, dangerous stairs. Our children developed bed bug like bites, a local pharmacist said they needed treatment, and we had to pay to have all our clothes laundered elsewhere. If you’re considering it because of the location or slick photos, don’t. It’s a health and safety risk. I’ve raised the issues with Expedia and American Express Travel, and hope the property is removed from their platforms.
