Van der Valk Hotel Antwerpen

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and getting to and from Central Antwerp by public transport was quick, clean, and inexpensive. We didn’t drive. From the hotel, it’s also about a 30-minute walk to the main Antwerp station, then another 20 minutes to the cathedral. We didn’t eat at the hotel. The room was an average size, with coffee facilities, a comfortable bed, and a fridge. I couldn’t set the temperature below 18C, so it felt too warm overnight, and trucks starting up outside early in the morning were very audible.

The Bistro and Bar service was amazing, and the Chef and his team made delicious food. I’m Vegetarian and Vegan and tried most of the menu. I especially loved the Sourdough Avacado and Burrata Salad. A big thankyou to all the Bistro staff who were there from 02Nov to 04Nov, sorry I can’t remember their names. I was here for 3 days during an Antwerp transit. The hotel is a little outside the city centre but still well located. The rooms were cosy and neat, with soft linen that made for decent sleep. Reception staff were polite and kind, and ready to help whenever needed. Thankyou to everyone for making my stay comfortable.

The room was spacious, with a comfortable shower and bathroom, and a lovely view of the city. It has no opening windows. Staff were polite, breakfast was great, and so were the bar and restaurant. The sauna and pool weren’t especially inviting, but they were okay. It’s about a 17-minute drive from the center, with not much within walking distance. We forgot some clothes in the room and called that same evening from Brussels. The receptionist asked us to email, which she could have handled by phone, but we sent one anyway. We never got a reply or any follow-up, which was disappointing.

The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve ever had, in my opinion, with lots of choice and delicious food. I enjoyed the sauna too. The rooms were big and comfortable, and I was very happy with the amenities and helpful staff.
