Hotel Le Moulin Des Ramiers

The good reviews convinced us to book a few days, but the hotel turned out to be very average, even poor. It didn't seem like much effort went into keeping it clean: the rooms were dirty and dusty, especially the floors, and the bathrooms need a full renovation. Wi-Fi didn't work in the rooms. Breakfast wasn't worth the 15 euros at all. Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, except for the woman working at breakfast on weekends. A disappointing stay.

We slept well because it was so quiet, and the room was clean and comfortable. The little stream by the parking area was a nice touch, and breakfast was generous, with local meats, cheese, and spreads. Most of all, the host was incredibly helpful and attentive. We’d come back for his hospitality alone, though we liked everything about our stay.

The breakfast was a real highlight: breads and pastries, local cheeses, pâté and ham, homemade jams, honey, and a lovely fruit compote. The hotel has a wonderful smell, with a foresty aroma in the afternoon and pastries baking in the morning. Crupet is a delightful village, and the hotel sits among green grounds with a stream nearby and a tidy lawn. Our room was a good size, with the bathroom and loo separate. It was surprisingly quiet on the Tuesday and Wednesday nights we stayed. The bar was open on our second night and had a good choice of local beers, on tap and bottled.

We had such a lovely time and will definitely be back. The rooms were spacious and cozy, and the location has a lot of charm. Breakfast was terrific, with high-quality food produced locally. The host deserves another mention too: one of the kindest, most genuine, and most hospitable people we’ve met.
