Assesse is quiet, with limited things to do, but there’s a train station and a return ticket to Namur costs less than €5 on the weekend. Namur has pretty much everything you might need. We were blown away by Villa Athena’s character, style, presentation, and lovely owners. Iris and Christian live next door, and Iris was exceptionally helpful and friendly. We had a couple of nice chats, and they gave us delicious fresh eggs from their chickens. They have all sorts of animals, from horses to dogs, cats, peacock, and chickens. Iris offered to bring over their pony chanel, but it didn’t work out since we were always home late after days out. The place is very snug, with just enough space for four. Upstairs there’s a double bedroom and an adjacent bathroom. Downstairs are the kitchen, living and dining room, a wc, and a bedroom with two single beds. It was super clean when we arrived and nicely presented. Outside, there’s a trampoline, climbing frame and slide for little ones, plus several places to sit. Our little one absolutely loved it. I’d recommend it to anyone! Just watch the doorways, they’re very low. I’m only 172cm and bumped my head a couple of times. I’d give it more stars if I could.

Small house, but it has everything you need, and there’s a nice porch for evening chills or breakfast in the morning. The housekeeper was really friendly. I’d recommend it to everyone.

We found beautiful places to visit nearby. A tip for getting around: set Google to avoid highways, and you’ll come across lovely roads and villages. There’s also a large supermarket four minutes away by car, open every day. The house has a garden with a playground and covered patio, and the owner was so friendly that nothing felt like too much trouble. Fruit, snacks, and a bottle of wine were waiting when we arrived. We’re quite tall, so we had to duck a little between the living room and kitchen, but it didn’t spoil our stay. All in all, a wonderful time in a super nice house.

The house was quite humid and had an unpleasant smell, which was the one drawback. We still had a very nice weekend, and the little house was lovely with a very warm welcome.

A cozy cottage, well equipped for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. The hostess makes sure you have everything you need.
