Les Confidences de Messire Sanglier, stylished guesthouse

The children had a great time both in the house and outside, and we all enjoyed the space and the area around it. We stayed in the larger house over Christmas with two families. The beds were comfortable, most bedrooms nearly had their own ensuite, and the kitchen and dining area worked well for us. The host was welcoming and sorted out the small issues quickly. It has a comfortable, atmospheric feel rather than the look of a sleek designer home, and the price felt very fair for what we got. We may come back.

We loved the wide countryside views and went on some lovely walks straight from the house. Shops, including several larger stores, were about a five-minute drive away, and places like Dinant and nearby castles were easy to reach by car. We spent the week around New Year's Eve with two families, five children between us, and one extra guest. The main house had plenty of room. It has the character of an old home, with beautiful antiques and hunting trophies, while the facilities have been modernized. Most rooms have a private bathroom with a shower or bathtub, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The host lives in the tower and was very hospitable and helpful. We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful setting and would consider returning.

The cottage setting let us completely switch off, and the countryside was lovely on our family walks. We were greeted so warmly, and the bedding was especially comfortable. I'm taking home some great memories from the weekend. Nothing to complain about.

The place has a lot going for it, including table football, a French-style pool table, and roomy spaces with a castle-like feel. The welcome from the friendly owners was warm, and the accommodation seems suited to any season. It's a comfortable choice for families or a group of friends, and I'd recommend it. I was surprised by how dark the house is and by the very forest-themed decor, especially the boar's head above the toilet 😅 (see photo). One practical thing, I couldn't find scales or a mixer for my soft drinks. Don't forget...
