Corsendonk Duinse Polders

There was nobody at reception, so we had to wait at the bar behind people ordering food. One person seemed to be running the whole hotel and wasn't very friendly. The rooms felt like very old Ikea, with sofas covered in decades of stains, sticky floors, no soundproofing whatsoever, filthy sheets, and even gum stuck between the supposedly fresh ones. Really unimpressed. For what you pay, there are much better, cleaner and more luxurious hotels.

Getting there by train was convenient: the tram from outside the station goes straight to the hotel, and the walk into town is short. They have luggage storage if you arrive early and don't want to pay €25 for early check-in. The room looked odd for a hotel, with office-style ceilings and floors, and we could hear people in the hallway through a vent in the door. Cleanliness was the main problem. There was what looked like dried pee on the floor outside the bathroom and by its door. We were exhausted from walking around town and stayed just one night, so we put up with it, but I wouldn't recommend the place if cleanliness matters to you. I'd seen a review from six months earlier mentioning cleanliness issues, and the hotel's reply said it was taking the feedback seriously and implementing thorough inspections, including for bathroom cleanliness and functionality. The bathroom appliances worked, but I wouldn't say that promised inspection process had been put in place. I would have given the hotel 4/5, but the pee stains are hard to overlook.

The location is great, with the beach only a few minutes' walk away. But our room still wasn't ready well after 19h, and when we finally got in, it hadn't been cleaned properly. We also had to make the beds ourselves. The service desk wasn't helpful, and nobody replied to my email afterwards.

I was there for a four-night conference stay. The rooms were very basic, but they did what I needed. The conference facilities were fantastic, with plenty of breakout rooms and excellent buffet meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The tram stops right outside, and the beach is a short walk away. The hotel itself is basically a large conference venue.
