9 Hotel Chelton

The connecting-room setup worked really well for our family. They’re two separate rooms, so the kids had their own space, with a little private corridor between them and the rest of the hallway that only we could access. We booked the “duo connecting rooms” and were impressed by the design. The rooms themselves are simple but lovely, with pastel colors, wood details and a nice bed. The hotel feels new and is nicely designed. Breakfast doesn’t have much variety, but what’s there is good quality. Fresh water, tea and coffee are available throughout the day, and the work area and honesty bar are actually useful. The pool is tiny, but set up nicely. It gets crowded if there are more than us and one other guest or family. We were lucky to have it to ourselves or share it with one other family each time, though I don’t know if that’s typical. One real gripe: the “gym” has only three machines, so calling it a gym on the website sets the wrong expectation. My sons and I use gyms when we travel, and that overpromise was frustrating. They should either leave it off the site or explain what it actually offers. Street parking was a little over €3 an hour, Monday through Saturday. There’s also bookable Bepark parking nearby for €14 a day. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and it felt like good value for money, which is why I’m giving five stars.

The staff were helpful and friendly, and getting around by public transport was easy from the hotel. Our room was spacious, breakfast was good, and there’s a small pool too. A lovely extra was the free coffee and snacks in the afternoon.

I keep coming back here on business trips. It’s a beautiful, comfortable new hotel close to Schumann and the EU institutions, and the breakfast is delicious.

It’s quite a walk to the town centre, though there’s a bus stop about a minute from the hotel. A lovely park, plenty of restaurants and a handy shop are nearby. The hotel is lovely, with friendly staff and a superb breakfast.
