The location is really good, and the price was decent at €110 a night, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The hotel feels more like a hostel now, with budget cuts showing everywhere. I booked through Booking because it was rated 8/10 at the time. The score has since dropped, and I should have checked Google too. The ownership changed, and the lobby is still vast and beautiful, so I imagine the previous hotel was very nice. Since a&o took over, cleaning services and staffing seem to have been cut. They won’t clean unless you specifically ask, they don’t replace towels, and guests are expected to check themselves in for breakfast and then clear their own tables. At check-in, we waited an hour for keys. The app they expected us to use for self check-in didn’t work despite 15 minutes of trying, and staff eventually told us it didn’t matter and handed us the keys. I honestly don’t understand the point of that process. Breakfast had very little variety, just a couple of options. The facilities also looked quite worn and in need of renovation.

We stayed three nights and had a fine time. The room was fairly spacious, and I liked that housekeeping came when you wanted the room cleaned. Just note there’s no kettle or anything like that, and the bathroom has no drain outside the shower, so if water gets out you have to dry it up with a towel. The hotel has a large lobby and restaurant, a pool table, foosball and a play area for kids. There’s also a bar that opens at 4. It wasn’t too far from the city: an eight-minute walk to the tram, then three stops to get in. I recommend the place.

The place has become noisy with groups of kids and is starting to feel like a hostel. I’ve stayed several times, including for a week in November 2025, but I won’t be back. It’s got tragically worse under the new owners. Breakfast is awful and not worth €11: no hot food apart from boiled eggs, just one staff member on duty, and only paper cups for coffee and juice. The front office staff seem poorly trained, and there are very few of them. Some are borderline incompetent. The elevators and common-area carpet are dirty. The QR codes in the room for ordering daily cleaning don’t work. I went to reception three times to ask for my room to be cleaned and nothing happened. It went uncleaned for five days. The website photos are misleading now. There’s no complimentary water or tea and coffee setup in the room, the lobby water machine is gone, and the coffee machine there is broken. They’ve even removed the shoe shine machine and all the bedroom fridges. The 10 am checkout is ridiculously early, too. I had to change rooms three times because of noise or because the room wasn’t clean. Find somewhere else. Never again.

We really enjoyed our two-day stay at A&O Hotel in Brussels. There was lots of entertainment, and the hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms were comfortable and well maintained, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They made us feel welcome and didn’t keep us waiting for our rooms. It’s conveniently located not far from the city centre, which made exploring Brussels easy. Everything about the stay felt perfect, and we enjoyed every moment. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Brussels! Abubakr Yakubov

We paid €120 a night for six days, and this was very, very bad. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it. Our first room was 1338 on level 1, the ground floor, booked through Agoda as a garden view. It smelled, had no temperature control or even a hole for fresh air, and the view wasn’t a garden at all. Outside was rubbish, including an apple, paper cup and tissue. There was no kettle, not even a glass, the toilet bowl had yellow stains, there was no glass in the bathroom, and the shampoo smelled awful. The king bed had only two pillows. There was no mini fridge, despite what was shown. Basically, nothing. When I complained, a large woman at reception had a very bad attitude. She told me to open the window for air because the air conditioning was controlled centrally. I asked how that was safe on the ground floor if someone climbed in. She said nothing had happened before. This is Europe, and I’m supposed to sleep with the window open? The Agoda listing showed four stars, but the hotel felt like a basic, no-star hostel. Reception just told us to complain to Agoda because we booked through its platform. I asked to check out and requested a confirmation letter saying I’d be refunded so I could show Agoda. Four days later, there was still no response. There were lots of students running around, and it was noisy. At breakfast, the sauces were unlabeled and placed close to your face, so you could smell them. In a huge hotel there was only one toaster, which could fit four slices at a time, and everyone queued for it. After I kept complaining at reception, they moved us to room 4241 on level 4. That room had a central air vent, so it was better, and being on the fourth floor made it feel safe to open the window for fresh air. But when we came back around 7 pm one evening, the power in the room had tripped. We waited at the desk for 30 minutes with no customer service. Finally, a boy who was off duty came to check on us because he’d seen us waiting so long. He said we might have to wait 2-3 hours for a technician to come and fix it. This is a very large hotel, but there was only one person at the counter and no electrical technician on standby. Housekeeping doesn’t tidy your room unless you keep reminding reception.
