Hostel Louise

We’d booked three nights but only stayed one because we had no other option. The men’s room smelled really, really bad, and it looked like some people lived there and didn’t shower. The whole place was dirty. There were just two toilets for dozens of rooms and one so-called shower that didn’t feel like a real shower. There was loud noise from the street day and night. The street out front was a mess, with no asphalt and construction going on. The doors were left open all night and there were no keys, so there was zero safety. This place is run down. Don’t spend your money here.

The hostel seems to be cleaned regularly, and the staff are nice. If you’re really stuck for somewhere to sleep in Brussels, that helps, but the place itself is in pretty poor shape. The sockets looked dangerous, the toilet seats were brownish, and the bunk bed rods were bent enough that you could easily fall. My friend tied them with straps we had along so he’d be safer up top. The lower mattress was so bad I could feel the springs, so I slept on an air mattress on the floor.

The bathroom was a joke, and the hostel was filthy, with no hygiene and no maintenance at all. Even an abandoned Chernobyl hostel would be in better shape. I wouldn’t recommend this to any woman.

I’ve visited many countries, and this was the worst experience I’ve had. The bathrooms were filthy and had no locks, and the toilets were unusable. The beds creaked even when someone walked on another floor. The receptionist was rude and spoke to us in a very bad way. The hostel is a joke and barely deserves to be called a hostel. I don’t recommend it. If you go in summer, you’d be better off staying on the street, or paying a little more for another hostel.
