Hotel Du Congres

Room 211 felt grand, with high ceilings, a king bed, and a single bed, and the room itself was huge and beautiful. The bed was comfortable, breakfast was a nice continental buffet, and the service had good attention to detail. You're near the city centre and plenty of good bars and restaurants. The only thing I'd improve is the soundproofing, since the neighbors were a bit loud one night.

I booked at the last minute on a budget and expected very little, so it was a nice surprise. My small ground-floor single room looked onto a charming bamboo garden and felt secluded and quiet. The old town is about a 20 minute walk away, which worked fine for me. Service was friendly and efficient.

The location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants, cafés, and bars nearby, and the staff were friendly. But I was unhappy with the room I was assigned. I stayed 8 nights in a tiny room wedged between the first and second floors by the emergency exit stairs. It felt like they'd squeezed it in just to add another room. The bed was small and uncomfortable, and there was no soundproofing. Every night I could hear people upstairs and some machine running. For what this hotel costs, I was very disappointed.

We stayed for two nights over new year's and paid more then 350 Euro. The price was way too high for what you get, especially in the rooms, where several things were broken, including the hair dryer and electrical fittings. Breakfast was mediocre.
