The neighborhood felt quiet and safe, being near the European Commission. Our room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was good. The heating wasn’t working properly at first, but the staff brought us heaters.

Our bag, with passports and cash inside, was taken from the lobby while it was right in front of the receptionist. Our group had checked in at about 8:50 pm on 9 November. We rushed outside, but by then nobody was in sight. We asked reception to help us view the CCTV footage and were told they could only do so with police present. We asked them to call the police and were told the police were on their way. At 9:50 pm, we checked again. The receptionist then said the police wouldn’t come unless we caught the suspect. The police station told us they could email the hotel to request the footage. Hotel security didn’t arrive until 10 pm, and we wondered where he had been when the bag was taken. Back at the hotel, reception said we could wait until the manager arrived the next morning. When we returned, no manager was there. They also refused to help us call the manager, and we felt completely helpless, as if no one wanted to assist. We had also had an unsettling moment when a hotel cleaner asked our aunt for her room number. Please be cautious if anyone asks for yours, and remember to lock your door. We’re attaching several images of the CCTV, which could have shown what happened and who took the bag, but the hotel wasn’t cooperative. A hotel should make guests feel safe. We felt scared and insecure staying here.

The rooms and suites were average, as was the service overall. A pleasant extra was the snack and treat corner by the entrance, especially the pots of candy that the children liked. I stayed at the NH Brussels Hotel for eight days, and breakfast was the standout. The food was high quality, with vegan and healthy options. The selection was mostly the same each day, but there was enough variety to mix up bowls, juices, and detox drinks.

The reception staff were very helpful, and we were given access to the stairs. Breakfast was really tasty, too. Great hotel, and I’d be happy to come back!
