Sun Rise Hotel

The hostel feels like a room that wasn't designed for beds and lockers has been crammed full of them. Getting around or putting away your things means constantly maneuvering around other people. The breakfast area and shared space don't feel welcoming, so hardly anyone uses them. Of the three showers, two had missing doors or doors that were broken and liable to fall unless balanced just right on the faulty mechanism. Water ended up all over the bathroom floor, making it unpleasant for you and whoever used it next. None of the three showerheads put out much water either, so showering was slow and unsatisfying.

I booked it only because there was nothing else available near Vorst Nationaal, but even for one night it cost too much for the experience. The place needs a lot of renovation. Breakfast food should be kept cold, the bathrooms need a thorough clean, and the bedrooms should at least have curtains on every window. The people were friendly, but that doesn't make up for the hotel's current condition.

The vegetables in the food were spoiled. The restaurant owner's son was very violent and treated people very badly. The family runs the restaurant, and there's no one holding them back. Everyone seems very nervous.

The host was attentive and spoke English, and the service was good. My room was nice and as I expected. Breakfast was nice too. The bathroom was okay, though the toilet seat wasn't installed properly. I didn't ask anyone to fix it, so that's on me.
