Tangla Hotel Brussels

The breakfast issue was the last straw. When a client moved my appointment earlier, I asked reception to cancel one of the two breakfasts I’d added at check-in. They said it couldn’t be changed because I’d agreed to a package and signed a form. Nobody had explained that when they asked me to sign, and it left me in a really bad mood. I’d booked two nights despite the mixed reviews, and check-in itself was easy. The room was large, looked nice at first, and the welcome fruit and chocolates gave a good impression. Then I noticed the curtain wouldn’t close because part of it was hanging down, some plywood pieces were broken, there was no toilet brush, and water barely drained from the sink. There were too many little problems. Other reviews make it seem like lots of rooms need repairs too. There was no free bottled water, just the paid option in the fridge, and the internet kept cutting out. That’s a real problem when I need my laptop for work. Given these issues and how long they seem to have been around, I can’t recommend the hotel or see myself coming back. It also felt like management was content to keep going as long as Chinese students, air crews and similar guests kept the business going.

We arrived on 28 December and a very pleasant man showed us to a room on the second floor. The vinegar smell was overpowering as soon as we stepped out of the lift. I asked to upgrade to a suite. The first suite they showed us was better than this room, but it cost an extra £100 per night. I still haven’t decided what rating to give them, and I’ll rate again in three days. By the way, I also have another deluxe room where my husband is staying alone. It’s super tiny.

The pool was really big and nice, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was okay. But the bathroom was dirty and most things in the room looked like they needed a handyman. There are better places for the money.

The perfume was so strong it gave me a terrible headache. I’m not sure if that was the hotel or the conference taking place. The place also felt pretty outdated, room service wasn’t great, and the check-in welcome was a 2/5.
