Vlaeberg Birdhouse

A lovely home away from home. It was a very good, quiet break, and I hope to come back.

The owner was quick to respond whenever I had a question, and I’m already planning to return. I had an incredible stay, with some truly lovely moments. Everything seemed set up to make the experience unforgettable, and the accommodation was exceptional. It’s the best place I’ve ever stayed. Thanks for everything!

The house is lovely and has a big garden, but there were a few problems. There was mold in the shower, some interior doors wouldn’t shut properly, and the door hardware was loose. Just one window in the whole house could be opened, and a noisy fan ran constantly in the bathroom.

The bedrooms, beds, and bathrooms are especially lovely and spacious. The whole house was clean, well equipped, and well maintained. The living room is large and laid out nicely, though it felt a bit stark and cold to me. That’s down to taste, I suppose. The huge garden is a lovely place to sit, with cozy lights in the evening, and it’s a good house for a weekend with family or friends. One thing I didn’t like was seeing birds kept in cages outside and in the outbuilding. Those parakeets in particular seemed truly pathetic. And all the stickers asking us to review the place on Google felt businesslike and impersonal. I’ve paid enough to enjoy my stay, so I’d rather just be present than have reviews pushed at me.
