Villa les Bruyères

We rented Villa des bruyeres for a family get-together in October 2022, with 12 of us ranging from elderly family members to a 2-year-old. We drove in from different parts of Holland and had an easy trip; the place was simple to find. With Halloween coming up, my first impression was that it looked like a spooky Hollywood horror movie, with large tarantula spiders around the property. Still, my first reaction was also “wow.” The key was hidden in a password-protected spot. This is an honest review, not paid. We paid in full, and I was just overwhelmed by the place. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped, with amazing attention to detail. Anne seemed to have pictured every possible need: children's cutlery, baking supplies, and anything else you could think of. I even tried to find something missing while cooking an Indian dinner, but couldn't. The dining room table seated all 12 of us, and there was plenty of cutlery, glasses, plates, bowls, and other table accessories. It was tastefully done and well lit, and we enjoyed eating together next to the fireplace, though we didn't need to light it. The house was warm throughout despite rising fuel prices. One thing to improve: there wasn't a chair for a child. The bedrooms were more than we needed, each with its own character and heating. I stayed in the Cornelia suite, and all the beds were comfortable, with white linen sheets. The huge custom sofa beside the fireplace gave all 12 of us room to sit together, with plenty of cushions and warm blankets thoughtfully placed around. Outside, there was a generous, well-kept lawn and seating areas for family games and photos. We were so happy at the property that we barely went out, apart from a brief visit to Thorn. There are canals and walking paths around the property for anyone who wants to take a stroll. Charlotte found the place online and booked it on instinct. We may rent it again next year. For a large group, this is a must. If you want quiet, nature, and quality time, it's a definite yes too. A beautiful place for groups. It wasn't cheap, but was worth every penny.

We had a family get-together here and it was perfect. A lovely holiday home where old-time character sits alongside all the modern mod-cons.

The reception was friendly, and the location couldn’t be better. It’s a beautiful place with a really nice house.

The villa felt like home for all twelve of us. Anne and her family renovated it with so much care in the details, and we didn’t feel we were missing anything. You could happily stay in the house the whole time 😊. It’s a shame November weather kept us from using the garden, though. I bet it’s lovely in summer!
