We paid over €800 to book shortly before Covid, then had to cancel because of lockdown. They gave us only two months to rebook, still during the Covid period, and we ended up losing our €600 deposit with no chance to reschedule. The policy is outrageous. I’m posting this review a bit late, but people should read it before booking. There’s an agency behind the reservation, and they showed no consideration for customers. On the phone, they spoke to us in a condescending way. Avoid at all costs.

For more than €2,000, plus €50 in extra charges for 11 nights, this was unacceptable. We arrived to find dirty dishes and washed them by hand because the dishwasher didn’t work. A technician confirmed it was so clogged that it couldn’t function. There were cobwebs in the living room, dead flies in the kitchen extractor fan and squashed insects on the ceiling, which made the €175 cleaning fee outrageous. The garden was scattered with glass shards, bottle caps and cigarette butts. It wasn’t safe for children to play there. We picked things up, but a shard still burst my son’s ball. Two bedrooms had no shutters and the curtains let in light. In one room, wires were holding the shutters up. There were no mosquito nets on the windows, and the place had no soundproofing at all. We had to whisper so we wouldn’t wake the children. There was no Wi-Fi in 2021. The rooms got unbearably hot even though the weather was poor, and the children couldn’t sleep. A hot water pipe under the floorboards was heating the bedrooms. The heating oil use was 5 liters a day, and the boiler was set to winter mode in an inaccessible room. The agency was dismissive and did nothing for five days until Booking.com intervened and made them act. The reception was a 10-minute drive away to collect the keys and take the recycling bins, or face a fine.

The house was clean, and the forest and river are nearby. Shops are within walking distance, a ten-minute drive. It’s a beautiful place in a lovely setting, and perfect for 14/16 people.
