Enjoy Durbuy 2

We only visited for the day and didn’t rent a room. The temple feels tucked away among the trees, and there’s a playground with benches where parents can sit while the kids play. It’s a lovely, quiet spot, but the unlit path to the temple makes getting there a bit difficult.

The one thing going for this place is that the cute old town of Durbuy is about five minutes away. The hotel itself was a very bad experience. There was no hand soap in the toilet, although the kitchen had a full bottle of dish soap. The beds had no sheets and there were no towels; getting a hand towel, as you’d normally expect, cost extra. The blanket smelled awful without a sheet, and the bedding we found was in bad shape. We expected a clean, prepared room or bed, not something dirty and half empty. The open Wi-Fi didn’t work at all, which was ironic. The welcome and hospitality were really poor. I don’t recommend this place and would never come back.

The apartment was dirty, and so were the windows. Moss covered the roofs of the residences. In summer, the apartments get very hot, with no way to cool off except the miserable pool, which was green and full of algae. It was meant to stay open until 6 pm, but the staff seemed to have forgotten it was there. The apartments are supplied empty: no paper, soap, garbage bags, dishwashing products, salt, or other basics, so you have to bring everything yourself and pay for it separately. We were only told after booking that extra charges applied, including electricity and bedsheets, which had to be reserved 48 hours ahead or you’d sleep directly on the bed. The tourism tax was fair, at least. I’d recommend this place 10/10 to my worst enemy.

The pillows and single duvets were yellow, so we looked for a single sheet. They only had a double one, which we put back, and ended up sleeping under duvets and on pillows that looked pee-stained. Absolutely disgusting. The next day they messaged demanding £20 for a bedsheet from a cupboard, even though we hadn’t used it. There was no mention of extra charges when booking. Looking at other reviews, they seem to charge people for all sorts. Scammers. Honestly, avoid this place. You’d be better off sleeping in your car.
