B&B / Gîte Le Relais de Charlinette

The hosts were welcoming, and breakfast was lovely for an affordable rate. It was also fine for our young dog. The room felt cosy and comfortable, and the motorway is close by, which worked well while travelling through Belgium.

I really enjoyed getting a break on a farm and spending time with the animals, especially the donkeys, the dog girl, and the horse girls (I know they're mares). I was looking for a low-key farm stay, and this B&B is a house converted into three guest rooms. The elderly couple hosting it had upbeat energy, especially the hostess, who deserves a shout-out. A couple of things didn't work well for me. At breakfast, you have to be completely sure the day before about what you want and how much, so if you miscalculate by one bun, that's it, you don't get the extra bun. The 11am checkout situation was messy too, and that needs to be better. That isn't okay service.

Such a peaceful place, with a fantastic atmosphere. One of the best B&Bs.

The owners are wonderfully kind and helpful, and the countryside around the house is peaceful, with animals in the fields and yards. The old building isn't especially modern and may not suit everyone, but it has loads of character. A fantastic place.
