The room was clean overall, the linens smelled nice, and breakfast was almost complete. But my husband ended up filling the coffee maker himself, and when the owner arrived, he yelled at him. The owner's wife sat with her feet up on her phone instead of serving guests. The owner's son was much nicer: he quickly replaced the leaking shower hose and removed the wasp's nest on the roof. The hose leak left no pressure at the showerhead or even at the kitchen sink tap. There were little cobwebs in the corners and dead flies around the skylight, too. We'd booked directly with the owner well ahead of time, on July 6, 2025, for our arrival on July 25. We got there at 7:30 pm, not 9:00 pm, and were put in an attic room with only 50 cm of headroom. Everywhere else meant stooping. Opening the front door, I walked straight into a beam, and the bathtub was under the eaves. You'd have to be 1.40 m tall to stand in it. I'm 1.75 m and my husband is 1.85 m, so we had to wash squatting. I've never seen anything like it, and I don't understand how a room like that can be rented, especially at the price we paid. When I asked to change rooms, the owner's wife said she hadn't thought we were that tall. I was shocked by such an inappropriate response. We weren't given another suitable room, a discount, or even an apology. The day after we arrived, there was a flea market in the street, but nobody told us. The next day we got snide remarks, and our car nearly got towed. The area is nice, though an abandoned basketball court gets in the way of the beautiful river view. Our stay in Belgium was perfect apart from this hotel. I wouldn't return. If you do stay, make sure you don't get the maid's room, or that you're no taller than 1.40 meters.
