Hotel Le Florentin

The adjacent restaurant was amazing, with a lovely terrace, and we couldn't recommend it highly enough. Try the lobster. The hotel was immaculate and modern, and the air conditioning worked excellently in the extreme heat.

We checked the menus online beforehand, and they were available in English. The hotel was great, and we'll gladly come back. The restaurant was superb for food, drinks, and especially service. As a former waiter, I expect wait staff to keep an eye on diners and communicate with each other. That's exactly what we experienced on two nights in a row. Thank you so much!

The rooms were clean, spacious, and well designed, with a great, powerful shower. There was secured parking beside the hotel. A few things bothered us. The room hallway light came on with movement and couldn't be switched off. Parents should know that moving around while a child is asleep, even just going to the bathroom, can suddenly light up the room and wake others. We raised it at reception, but they said nothing could be done. We were also asked four times whether we wanted a restaurant reservation, in two emails, a phone call, and again at reception. And the bar seemed to be for restaurant guests waiting for a table only. Around 20.45, when we were the only ones left, the bartender told the pianist she could stop playing, then left and switched off the lights in the nearby areas.

The hotel was well located, with comfortable rooms and friendly reception staff. The restaurant was a very different experience, so that's why I gave three stars. For a place of such notable caliber, it was surprising there were no menus in English or Dutch, only French. When we asked, the waiter told us that only French menus were available and then disappeared, leaving us to guess what the food would be like. We were seated at a table right in the path of people passing by, even though we were among the first guests there. It wasn't the evening we'd expected or wanted. A smile and a bit of communication could have made a real difference. The restaurant experience was the complete opposite of what we've had at good restaurants, including Michelin starred ones, in Belgium and many other countries. We decided to find dinner elsewhere.
