We ate at the restaurant every evening, and that was the highlight for me. I'm not into fancy places where the food is more about looks than substance, or exotic dishes, so I liked the straightforward approach at Bokrijks Gasthof. There was a wide choice for different tastes, everything was cooked superbly and presented nicely, and the portions were generous. The staff were friendly, quick and all spoke English. I was there for three nights while exhibiting at the Genk Euromodelbouw 2013. The twin room was small and basic, but clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. My roommate and colleagues in the other rooms had no complaints. Breakfast was the usual continental spread and just what we expected. It all made for a very enjoyable weekend.

The hotel sits right on a main road, with bed showrooms and other big shops nearby, a bit like living beside the A13. Staff were helpful and the food was okay, though a little pricey for town.

I won't come back. On Saturday evening I ordered mixed grill, and at least one piece of meat was spoiled and smelled awful. The waiter was friendly and took it off the bill, but that's completely unacceptable. The next morning the bacon was black and looked like it had been sitting in old fat for days. Two days later I'm still feeling ill and planning to see a doctor. Absolutely do not eat here. Scandalous.

The bed was comfortable, the room was fine apart from a few small issues, and the location is excellent. Their own ice cream shop is one of the best, really delicious ice cream. The door closers need attention, though. The doors shut so loudly that other guests make it clear they're bothered. Quiet at night would make the place more appealing.
