Hostel 47

Hostel 47 was comfortable, clean, and well organized, close to the historical town centre with easy public transport. The host was extremely friendly and helpful, and gave us a warm welcome. My wife, sister-in-law, and I had a wonderful time here in October 2014. Ghent is a lovely, lively city, and we intend to visit again when we get another chance. Thanks!

The owner was the best part, naturally friendly and lovely to chat with. The interior has a nice mix of modern and minimal touches, with a bit of the feel of an old Flemish house. It has everything a nice hostel needs.

This was my first time staying in a hostel. We booked a private room for two, and it wasn't cheap. For that money you could also stay in an inexpensive hotel. The rooms, shared bathroom, and toilets were clean, and the shared kitchen was okay, though the egg boiler and toaster were dirty. I liked the relaxed atmosphere, being able to cook, chatting with other people, and having a garden where you can BBQ. You do have to make your own bed, and the kitchen could be cleaner. Still, it was a good experience and I'd do it again.

The location near Dampoort train station was handy, and the staff were very friendly. I also loved the modern interior, how clean everything was, the kitchen you could use anytime, and the great breakfast included in the price. One of the best hostels I've stayed in Europe. Certainly recommended!
