Hostel Uppelink

I booked at the last minute and the process was easy. The hostel worked out well, so I’d recommend it. I was in room 4, looking out over the river, in a 12-person mixed dorm. There were only three other people in there during my two nights. The bed, pillow and blanket were comfortable, and each bunk had a bedside light and USB, USB-C and regular outlets. You’ll need your own padlock for the lockers. Bathrooms were great, with enough toilets on each floor. One weekend downside was the noise if the window was open. Room access felt secure, though the door doesn’t close by itself, so it won’t lock if someone leaves it ajar. I found that out when I came back, but thankfully everything was okay.

For a very reasonable price, you get a comfortable room, clean toilets, secure lockers and really friendly staff. The setting in the city center is lovely, with great views of the churches. It had everything I needed, and I’d totally recommend it.

I spent two days here in September 2024 and didn’t need any transport, since all the sights in Ghent’s historic center are within walking distance. The staff and other guests were friendly and helpful. A perfect hostel in the heart of the city, highly recommended.

The common area was cozy and relaxing, and this wasn’t a loud, rowdy hostel. We had a private room for three, which was clean, as were the sheets, bedding and bathrooms. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The location made it easy to reach food, transport and shops. Breakfast was simple but did the job when we needed it, though there weren’t any fresh pastries. I’d definitely recommend this hostel to people traveling in Belgium.
