The owner’s response at checkout was the worst part of this experience, even worse than the place feeling unsuitable for guests. After we explained the morning noise, he blamed us for having the window open by 3 cm, though it was June. He didn’t apologize. He said the noise was normal and the workers weren’t doing anything disruptive. When I said he should at least apologize for all the noise, he called me arrogant. He kept blaming us instead of showing any understanding, and was extremely rude. He clearly doesn’t know how to deal with people or customers and should take customer service training. The room itself was okay and the bed was comfortable, but from 8 a.m. workers were in the patio right by our window, talking loudly and making a lot of noise with machinery. It felt like they were in the room. Then the cleaning lady came in without knocking. We needed rest, and the whole situation was very stressful. I’ve never had such a horrible hotel experience, somewhere that felt more like a construction site. Do yourself a favor and don’t stay here. There are plenty of nicer places where they treat you like human beings.

Oliver and Lucrece looked after us, and both were incredibly kind. It was my boyfriend’s birthday, and they gave us a Champagne to celebrate. We didn’t get the chance to drink it, but really appreciated the gesture. They also helped with some band aids I badly needed. The breakfast was quite good, and every indoor space is heated. Our room was comfortable and clean, and there’s a cozy, very quiet backyard. I’m so grateful to the staff and would highly recommend staying here.

The room had plenty of space and everything we needed, and breakfast was good with lots of choice in a lovely room. Staff were always happy to answer our many questions. We stayed five nights while visiting Ghent, Brugge and Brussels. The station at Ghent-Dampoort was an easy walk away, and there was a tram stop by DeKroook for longer trips. The main Ghent sights were close too. We’d happily stay here again if we come back to Ghent.

A comfortable room, a nice patio, and a breakfast I really enjoyed. The service was very good too. It’s not far from the train station.
