The bar is really cool, with games and billiards, and the beer is great. The showers were very good too, though the bathrooms are tiny. At night the room was very cold, and the duvets weren't enough. Those triple bunks are awkward to climb into if you're tall. There are a few things they could fix, but the place has great potential.

The kitchen was fully equipped, with several induction stoves and loads of utensils. Even with the hostel fully booked, we never struggled to find space or what we needed to cook. The bedrooms were luxurious and spotless, and our room could sleep twelve without making us feel short on privacy. The marble bathroom was impeccable, with plenty of showers, private toilets, and other facilities. We booked “The Cover” hostel above a bar in central Ghent expecting an ordinary hostel, or worse. We were wrong. At the bar and reception, a charming young woman greeted us, sorted out the formalities, and gave us a full tour. After the tour, we got a code that let us enter the hostel 24/7. We had drinks at the bar before calling it a night. We were tired, so mostly took in the artwork and scenery by local artists, though there were also pool, kicker (fussball), board games, and even some light (legal) gambling. The next morning, we had our last coffee in the sun, looking out over the market. We left satisfied. 5/5, will definitely go again.

The location was perfect, and we liked being able to enter after opening hours. It wasn't as clean as it should have been, especially because of the smell in the place.

The bar and games were a plus, but the location was the main good point. The beds felt too cramped, and with three bunks, getting to the top was really annoying.

The host could have been a bit friendlier, and some things could have been cleaner. Still, it's a really nice place in the centre of Gent and definitely worth the price.
