We'd happily come back. This was our second stay, and the rooms are lovely and spacious, with old-fashioned furniture that suits the farmhouse. The bathroom is roomy too. The area is beautiful and makes you want to go for an evening walk, and St. Truiden, with its restaurants and bars, is only 10 minutes away. The manager doesn't speak English, so we got by with gestures. Her son speaks good English, though, and could help if communication became a problem. Best wishes from Austria.

The breakfast was just right, with fresh yogurt that even the kids loved, plenty of local fruit and jams, and a big selection of cheeses. There wasn't much meat, but after the fruit, yogurt, croissants and jam, even with the kids finishing a little box of cereal, we were ready for the day and didn't feel we'd missed anything. We were a couple traveling with two children, and all of us enjoyed the stay. We may have been the most lively guests there, since the other guests were quiet couples and the owners' family was very peaceful. The friendly hosts made us feel right at home, and the place is lovely for relaxing or spending time together. The farm has a lived-in, rustic feel and is still used to grow asparagus, while the guest rooms are gorgeous, spacious and thoughtfully furnished. They mix modern touches with the authentic character and have all the comforts you'd want. We stayed in the colonial room, with two beds for the children and still plenty of room. The host also gave us dinner suggestions, and the room had a booklet with information on sights, rentals, restaurants and routes. We arrived early, then came back before heading to a nearby birthday and took a dip in the pool for an hour because it was so warm. The owners' family were around, but it felt so easy and familiar, almost like being on holiday in Provence. The host said we could stay as long as we liked while they spent time in the garden by the pool. That evening, a huge storm passed over. We watched the lightning from the hallway, while other guests watched from the terrace. The cool breeze and the view across the fruit trees made quite a sight. The next morning we followed a route the host had suggested, walked off breakfast, and enjoyed the peaceful, beautiful surroundings before going back to our busy lives.
