La Grange de David

The owner was a real pleasure to deal with, friendly, easy to reach, and quick to respond. The cottage itself is practical and well thought out, with what you need to stay comfortably. It sits in a gorgeous, quiet countryside spot, while still being easy to get to and well placed for walks and other activities around the region. A superb place.

The kitchen was roomy and had plenty of equipment, but the bin was filthy and its lid was broken. There was also a jar of cigarette butts left on the terrace. Cleaning elsewhere was just as bad, with limescale on dirty taps and rusty cup holders. The old mattresses and the lack of a bedside table in the bedroom didn't help, and sleeping downstairs was impossible because the kitchen's commercial refrigerator was so loud. The living room chair barely had space for eight, and there wasn't even a coffee table. 🤔 I was extremely disappointed and absolutely wouldn't recommend this place.

Renée made us feel so welcome and was attentive and accommodating. The gîte was spotless and suited our needs perfectly. We loved the quiet setting and its location, which also made a great base for exploring the beautiful region. Thanks for such a lovely stay, we'd be happy to come back.

We went to David's barn at the end of last year hoping for a nice family break, but the rental turned into a disaster. We paid €2332 for 4 days plus €500 for supplies, and then €300 was withheld for electricity on a flat rate, with no proof of what we'd used. The owner was very friendly by phone and made the gîte sound perfect, but we never saw her. She said she couldn't make time to meet us on arrival or departure, though she was keen to collect payment. No one welcomed us or saw us off. The place was filthy. Hair was left in the showers, the toilets were dirty, and the owner said her cleaner couldn't come because of a family matter. The coffee machine didn't work, the courtyard and table had cigarette butts, and the bin was broken. Curtains sagged when closed, some rooms had no bedside tables, and we had to replace the TV remote batteries. The ground floor bedroom was impossible to sleep in because of the commercial refrigerator motor and sump pump noise. With nine of us, only five seats in the living room meant four people sat on the floor, and there was no coffee table. There were plenty of other problems too. After the owner replied saying my account was lies, she claimed she'd never slept in that ground floor room, despite the constant noise from the pumps and large commercial fridge motor. There are positive reviews, but I wonder if they're genuine. We have photos and videos. Never again in this barn. It's shameful to manipulate customers over the electricity charge. Forget about it at the latest.
