Hotel Villa Monte

The room was comfortable and clean, with a large, well-maintained bathroom. There was a slightly odd smell in the room, but it was manageable. Such a cute hotel, and the breakfast was AMAZING. I'd definitely recommend it!

The building is beautiful, and its central location is pleasant. The rooms are excellent and feel homely, with neat bathrooms. I was disappointed by the service. I arrived at 7 pm for a gala and had counted on being able to iron my clothes. The service manual said an iron and board could be requested until 10 pm. But when I called at 9 pm, I was told it wasn't possible and to ask the next morning. I could hear music and noise from a pub in the background. I don't understand why the manual says you can call for service until 10 pm.

The room had both A/C and a heater, and the washroom and bathroom were great and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable, with two types of pillows, one soft and one memory foam. We stayed on the second floor under a sloping roof, with the bed tucked beneath an arch. There was ample parking on the property. It felt like we had a mansion to ourselves, especially since we were the only guests on the first night. Despite the corona measures, the stay went smoothly. We booked through booking.com, and the staff kept us informed about the regulations and breakfast. Everything was neat and very clean. Staff wore masks, which were required outside your room, and followed strict food-handling rules detailed on booking.com. The bar was closed, understandably, but the main street was full of restaurants and was also good for shopping. We were only about 30 minutes from home, but wanted a change of scenery and to support local businesses in a difficult time. The drive was relaxing, along nice regional roads rather than big highways, and the hotel is away from major cities. We barely heard the busy bars, even on a Saturday night during the pandemic, so the sound insulation was really nice. We stayed in and watched a movie while it rained. The weather was rough, with heavy rain and strong winds all night. We like the sound of rain and slept right through it. I can't say how much noise carries from other guests inside the building, as there were none the first night and just one other room booked the second night. We didn't hear them, probably because they were on the other side of the building to minimize contact. Breakfast was served rather than buffet style because of the pandemic. The cheese, butter, and cold cuts came on plates covered with plastic wrap. The bread was still warm in a basket, along with a croissant, pain au chocolat, coffee, orange juice, and fruit cocktail. I don't think the juice was fresh, and the fruit cocktail came from a can, but that was probably safest. It was a very nice breakfast in a beautiful solarium.

A very nice hotel with clean rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast was fairly standard for Europe, but still good, with fresh bread and eggs cooked however you like. I'd definitely recommend it.
