Le Repère du Cerf

The cottage itself is lovely, clean, authentic, and beautifully decorated. But we came during the week looking for quiet after a year and a half of COVID lockdown, and got no peace at all. Bulldozers, workers, trucks, excavators, and pickups went by all day, from morning to evening, with constant noise just outside. Sitting outside, we had to shout to hear each other. There’s a construction site and a new road only a few dozen meters from the door, something the host didn’t mention while describing the place as a charming, peaceful Ardennes cottage far from other houses. That’s information guests need, and hiding it felt wrong. Maybe it wouldn’t matter as much for a weekend, but it ruined our weekday stay. If you want peace and quiet and are going during the week, this isn’t the place.

A lovely little holiday home in a beautiful spot. It’s a good base for hikes, or just somewhere to unwind.
