The outdoor space is the best part if you’re bringing children. It’s spacious, safe and well equipped, with a well-kept playground and room for families to sit nearby. There’s plenty of potential for a good family visit. Our experience with the staff was the opposite. We felt hurried and unwelcome from the start. The waitstaff seemed irritated by ordinary questions and requests, and the manager came across as pushy and arrogant instead of helpful. It felt like we were being rushed to order and leave. That made the atmosphere tense rather than relaxing. We’ve been to lots of family restaurants, and this was one of the least pleasant experiences for how we were treated. Marie Siska has a good location and facilities for kids, but unless the staff and management change how they treat guests, I can’t see a reason to return. The amenities don’t make up for poor service.

The server wouldn’t let my daughter have even a quick aperitif with our family because she wasn’t staying for the meal. There were seven of us at a table for eight, and the restaurant was mostly empty on a sunny day, so she wasn’t taking up an extra seat. The refusal was inflexible, and the server was shockingly rude, with no courtesy or understanding. This was especially upsetting because our family has been coming to Siska in Knokke for generations. My parents brought us as children, and now we bring our own kids. Yesterday, my daughter was joining us briefly before her shift at the beach, but couldn’t stay to eat. Siska used to feel welcoming and family friendly. Heart-shaped waffles and playgrounds don’t excuse treating loyal customers as if they don’t matter. It’s sad to see the place lose what made it special.

I’m still shocked by how the manager and waitress behaved. They made us order for everyone, which we did, but then wouldn’t let our two-year-old drink from his own bottle. The waitress said she wouldn’t serve us. When we asked the manager, he said that if all the kids drank their water, they could close siska, even though the water was from their bottle. With service this rude, I wouldn’t be surprised if the place closed.

Even with all the nostalgia, the rude service and focus on money took over. Go somewhere kind and family friendly for a waffle. How many bad reviews will it take before this place understands that people won’t put up with being treated rudely?
