Nomad Knokke

A comfortable bed and an affordable place to stay in a very expensive area.

We were two people sharing a tent for one night, and it felt really cozy. The bed was comfortable, with a warm blanket and a spare one in case we got chilly. We each had two towels. There was a mini-fridge, lamp, storage cart and coffee machine with four capsules, plus powdered milk, sugar and a mug. Outside, we had a private terrace with our own table, and there was a grill to use. The bathroom is shared by five tents, and everything was clean and comfortable. A supermarket and gas station are just across the street, which makes the location handy. The beach takes around 25-30 minutes to walk to, but that was fine for us. There’s a snack vending machine by the entrance. We brought a leftover bread roll for the next day, since otherwise we’d have had to go buy one. There weren’t any knives, spoons or plates. We’d happily return. We were even given a small bag of sweets as a parting gift. If it’s warm and dry, I’d recommend it!

Check-in and checkout were easy online, and because we arrived late, our tent details were left in an envelope at the reception window. Parking was included in marked spaces about 10 metres from the tents. Ours was in a beautiful spot at the back of the property, but there was no Wi-Fi there, so we used a 4G hotspot. The tent is a little too low to stand up in, though it had the expected glamping basics: a double bed, linens and towels, small fridge, Nespresso machine, lamp, outlets, picnic table and two beach chairs. Shared hammocks and a barbecue were available too. There are two sanitary cabins for every six tents. They were new and very clean, with a toilet, sink, hot shower and an outdoor sink.

The sanitary block was spotless, and the shower was lovely and hot. Breakfast was €8 per person, with good quality food and more than enough to eat. We had a great time in the nomad tent, though September was chilly at 15 degrees Celsius. Bring warm pajamas and an extra blanket just in case, since it got cold overnight and the sleeping bags felt a bit flimsy. The bedding itself was adequate. In front of the tent were two loungers and a table with seats, a nice spot to relax or eat. There was also a small fridge and a 220-volt outlet with USB.
