Breakfast was a big hit with the children, who said it was one of the best they’d had away from home. There was plenty of fresh variety, including coffee, tea, cold meats, pastries, fruit, and yoghurts. We came as a family for a December weekend, and even though it was clearly out of season and very quiet, the staff looked after us well. Reception was friendly and efficient. Our rooms were spacious and clean, and one had a great view of the dunes. We arrived too late to book dinner, so we ate in town, where there were some great options.

Breakfast was amazing, and the dinner was delicious too. The waitresses did their best to translate the menu into German, which helped us feel really welcome. The building isn't the newest, but the man at reception was so nice to us. The hotel is quite close to the beach. We didn’t bring our swimsuits, so we missed out on the pool this time. I hope we can come back and enjoy the pool and sea for longer.

We had to queue for quite a while at checkout, which was a pain with a ferry to catch. Even so, we were really impressed and definitely want to return. We booked a self-catering apartment for three nights over Easter with my wife and our four-year-old son. Surrounded by sand dunes, it’s about a 10-minute walk to the beach. We’d forgotten towels, a tea towel, and washing-up liquid, but the apartment was exceptionally clean and easy to keep warm after coming in from the cold. The small swimming pool was modern and clean, the grounds were very tidy, and reception staff were friendly and helpful.

A warm welcome from the receptionist set the tone when we arrived. The private spa was a breathtaking experience, and this place feels like a hidden gem on the Belgian coast.
