B&B Den Engel

We chose this B&B to begin and end our cycling tour of Flanders, and it worked out brilliantly. The hosts kindly let us leave our bike travel bags there while we were away on the 10 day tour, which made returning to Den Engel for our last night so convenient. We could get the bikes ready for the flight home. The Merckx Suite was lovely and comfortable, and the courtyard and gardens are a peaceful, beautiful break from the city. We’d love to come back soon, and highly recommend staying here.

Breakfast was great, and the bed was really comfortable. The hosts were very accommodating, and the room was lovely, with all the facilities you could want. They’ve put so much thought and work into the details in every room, so take a look around beyond the one you’re staying in.

We spent a cyclo-cross weekend here in early January 2024 as a small group, and it was just right. The hosts were welcoming and friendly, with fantastic local knowledge. They even mapped out a cycle route that stopped at a well known cyclist bar. Coming back with filthy bikes and finding a power wash was a great bonus. Fantastic facilities, highly recommended!

The garden was lovely, with little birds popping by, and the breakfasts were a treat. Adinda was friendly and helpful, and worked around what we needed during our week-long business trip. I stayed in the Eddy Merckx apartment, which was warm and comfortable, with a stove, good shower, Netflix, and an incredibly cozy bed. I slept like a baby. The cycling photos and books were a lovely extra. My colleague and I couldn’t have asked for a better stay.
