Le Liège

The location is great, and the hotel has an old-fashioned, cute feel. The room was just okay, with little privacy. Most of all, it didn’t have a toilet, so you have to use the one in the hallway and share it with the other guests. A toilet is a basic need, so I’d give it 2/5. There’s room for improvement.

Breakfast the next morning was a real treat. Everything was ready when I came down, and tea or coffee was served as soon as I arrived. I’d gladly stay again if I return to La Roche. The owner was very friendly, and the old hotel is full of historic pictures of the region and the building. I spent one night in the most basic room, which was tiny but clean and fine for the price. It had a double bed, shower, sink, TV, and enough power outlets. The toilet was shared down the hall, which honestly wasn’t a problem. It got a bit cold under the old-style blankets, but I was able to sort that out myself. Thanks!

We decided not to stay after seeing the room, which was barely better than a hovel, and found a lovely alternative very close by. The owner or manager was difficult and unhelpful, with an attitude that came across as hostile and awkward. There’s little parking, and the place urgently needs refurbishment. We were told the card machine was “broken” and sent to find a bank so we could pay in cash.

Breakfast was included, with plenty of choices, and it was very good. The building is really close to the city center, and we loved the stairway decor. Our room was okay, including the toilet. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely come back!
