t Hooghe Licht Bed & Breakfast

My husband is still talking about the breakfast, and I can see why: it was delicious. Hilde gave us such a warm welcome and was full of local knowledge, and nothing was too much trouble. Our large room and the shared areas were spotless, with everything we needed, including a coffee machine, fridge and kitchen. The cot for our son was excellent quality, and he loved the toys. I was glad to have toddler bibs, cutlery and crockery provided too.

We rented the whole house for a family holiday, and its layout worked really well for three families. It was clean and nicely presented, and the hosts live on site, so they were easy to reach and very helpful and friendly. They speak good English too. There’s plenty to do nearby: we hired bikes in Zonnebeke and rode the memorial route, and the Memorial Museum in Zonnebeke is worth seeing. Tyne Cot, Ypres, Brugges and Ghent are all close enough for day trips. Bellawaerde Theme and Aqua park is an option for the kids, and De Hann is a quieter beach with bikes available to rent. Go across the train tracks and there’s shopping as well.

The house is modern and has everything you need. We had a great stay, and breakfast with fresh produce was excellent. Highly recommend!

A great base for exploring Westhoek. The indoor and outdoor facilities are fantastic, and the welcome was warm and accommodating. Breakfast was generous enough to keep us going through the day.
