pentahotel Leuven

The bathrooms are modern and clean, and the staff are genuinely warm, friendly, and full of helpful suggestions. That’s what makes it such a shame that the rest of the hotel needs so much attention. I’ve stayed here more than once. A year ago, I said it was overdue for a proper refurbishment, and the kind women at reception told me renovations were planned for the following year. Maybe management had given them the wrong information, because it’s December now and nothing has changed. The stains on the floors seem worse. The smell is awful enough that you have to open the windows to make the room bearable. The carpet is filthy and heavily stained, and the place feels neglected, like a once-grand hotel near the end of its life. With grime so visible, it’s hard not to question the room’s hygiene.

I slept better here than I ever have in a hotel. The location is perfect for exploring Leuven, and the staff were so friendly and helpful that everything felt easy. The room was comfortable, had a nice view, and felt modern and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from. I’d definitely recommend it.

For our next Leuven visit, we’d definitely consider the Pentahotel again. We stayed there for our 16th anniversary city trip, during Christmas, when Leuven is really lovely. The hotel is right in the centre, with everything within walking distance. There’s a cozy lobby and bar to relax in, and breakfast is well prepared with lots of choice. The room was all right, not very big, but clean and perfectly good as a base.

I’m actually sitting in the bar writing this instead of heading for my train. It’s a relaxed place with good beer and friendly staff, and we went there every day. We skipped breakfast. The hotel’s location is great, the beds were comfortable, and the blackout curtains helped us sleep well.
