Great location, but that’s about all it had going for it. The entry code they gave us didn’t work, so we had to call for a new one. The lift was out all weekend, and we had to climb to the fourth floor on narrow stairs. Only two of the automatic lights worked the whole way up, so we used our phone lights, even during the day. Inside, there was a half-drunk can of Red Bull, dirty socks and underwear under the bathroom sink, and cobwebs everywhere. There was no sofa bed bedding, and the air con stayed stuck at 24.5 all weekend. We were in Belgium for the F1 GP and used the place as a base, so spent little time there. We emailed about the problems, but nothing was done. Smartflats isn’t a fitting name for it. Since we were in Belgium for the GP, “the pits” seems more appropriate. I wouldn’t stay again.

The apartment was spacious, with large living and dining rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable double bed, and separate toilet and bathroom. It’s right in the centre of Liege, close to supermarkets, and very affordable. I didn’t like the black walls, though that’s just personal taste, and there was some dust. It looked clean, but the broom clearly hadn’t seen much use, and there wasn’t one for us to clean with. Still, the comfort, space, and location make it highly recommendable.

They cancelled on us with a week’s notice, leaving us in the lurch after we’d bought tickets for the Spa GP. They said it was a technical issue, yet apartments were still listed during the build-up and on trivago at prices higher than what we paid. We updated our card details yesterday, and they cancelled today. I believe they saw how much we’d paid and are profiteering from the GP. Don’t trust them.

The apartment is roomy, but upkeep is poor: some things were broken or coming loose, and it feels unfinished. It’s on a very busy shopping street, with no parking there. Nearby parking costs €20 a day.

Really clean, with great rooms, beds, and bathroom. It’s a nice place, though it needs a curtain and the WiFi was having problems.
