I especially liked the quiet sitting area at Hotel Zimmerhof in Lier, with its inviting sofas, soft lighting, and peaceful feel. It’s the sort of cozy spot where you want to stay a while with a coffee or a book. The rooms are comfortable and unpretentious, too. It felt like finding a charming, quiet corner of the city I hadn’t known I was missing.

I was on the top floor, overlooking the middle of the courtyard, and it almost felt like having a little apartment to myself. The room was great, and the location worked well. The staff were very friendly, and one person recommended Nethe & Drinke for dinner. It didn’t disappoint. Breakfast was a really good continental-style buffet.

Breakfast is included, and there’s nice seating, though after three days or more the same options get boring. The hotel has an elevator to the room floor, which helps if you have large suitcases since the stairs are tight. The place is decent and cozy, close to the central city market and lots of good pubs and restaurants. I’d still recommend it: the service is attentive, helpful, and polite.

Tim at reception is a great ambassador for Zimmerof, and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome in this old property. The breakfast and room cleaning were good. Excellent from the very start.

There’s no restaurant on site, but that wasn’t an issue with so many places to eat a short walk away. The hotel is very nice and close to all the eating places. Breakfast was nice, and the bar area was sufficient. A large fun fair was just around the corner, and crossing the bridge took it over to that square too.
