I’m usually skeptical of claims that staff only speak French, since people often switch to English as soon as they hear a foreign accent. That didn’t happen here, and I ended up enjoying the chance to dust off my schoolboy French 😂 The hospitality at mealtimes was excellent, and the rooms were superbly done, easily the best of our whole European trip. Breakfast showed what a continental breakfast can be, with much more than the small cereal and toast selection some hotels offer 😂 We had two dinners, both good French cooking, one great and the other outstanding. For a quiet, luxurious country stay with great food and staff, this is the place. I like to leave a balanced review, but I can’t think of anything that needs improving right now.

Our kids called the lovely garden the “secret garden” 😊, and they loved it. The rooms were excellent and beautifully decorated, and breakfast had a huge range of choices. The packed lunches were generous too. We don’t speak French, and the staff don’t speak English, but they were so helpful and we managed with Google Translate 😄 Thanks for a wonderful stay. We’d definitely recommend you to friends and family, and we’ll be back.

We stayed three nights in the beautiful blue room, Guillaume, which had a very nice view over the valley. The room was spacious, with a stylish bathroom, though there was quite a bit of dust and it could have been cleaned or made up better. Breakfast was well arranged by attentive staff and COVID-safe, with some variation each morning. I’d recommend the homemade yoghurt. The restaurant is small and offers daily menus. The menu was very nice, but it was the same on two nights in a row. It’s in a quiet part of the Ardennes, great for peace and quiet. A very nice experience overall.

The host was friendly and the service splendid. Our room and the garden were very nice, and the buffet was generous and delicious. I’d recommend it!

The hotel feels a little old and the cleaning could be better. Still, we paid barely 100 euros a day, and you can’t find anywhere better in the neighborhood for that price.
